Absolute last post on this because I am sick to hell of people getting up in arms about it. Stop sending me messages about it, please.
1) Don’t go insulting him on twitter, that’s just sad.
2) He clearly was (and says he was) talking about Gallifrey Base, which of course the writers should ignore. He doesn’t know or care about tumblr or livejournal or what-have-you.
3) He’s One of Us. Geeky obsessed fan arguing about Doctor Who on the internet.
4) He said “sorry.”
5) Steven Moffat is my favorite person (yes, including Matt Smith) working on my favorite tv show. Be nice to him.
6) This is pretty damn funny stuff.

Really, people. Do you even KNOW how much of a geek the Moff used to be? Did you not see the part where he called himself mad? Of course he wasn't being serious. You all need to calm down.

#Moffgate is just a flippant exaggeration and I’m sure his comments were also a bit facetious.
I’m watching Coupling right now because the Moff is my one and only. Don’t worry, all is well.

I felt really bad for mattsmithshair’s owner. I think she’s mortified.

I am actually a much bigger fan of Steven Moffat than I am of Matt Smith—and I still adore him—but it’s a bit rude. Although it’s not like he’s actually seen the blog or anything, so he’s just responding to the description the interviewer gave him.
He does have a point, though. Doctor Who is for the average viewer, not the fans. If you’re familiar with gallifreybase.com, a lot of fans there are actually crazy. These people took every opportunity to insult RTD when he was running the show and they’re doing the same to Moffat. They brought Helen Raynor to tears because of how they reviewed Daleks in Manhattan. It’s just a show, there’s no need to insult anyone over it…..
Anyway I’m sorry to keep posting about this but I kind of have to.

Agreed. This is the most reasonable ask I’ve seen about ~*Moffgate. My personal blog is (still) a Steven Moffat appreciation blog for this reason.

I post pictures of Doctor Who (including filming) and Matt Smith for those who are interested. The title might be misleading: it's really about Matt Smith and his era as the Doctor. His hair is the blog's namesake, not its focus, though I do comment on it because it's pretty awesome.

Steven Moffat knows this blog exists and thinks I should go on a date or something. I swear it's just a fan thing and not a creepy stalker thing.
